Buying Campervans
Campervans have become increasingly more popular since the 1950s and sales of camper vans continue to rise on a yearly basis especially throughout Europe and the USA. Despite the rise in fuel costs, owning a camper van means that you do not have to give up those weekends, mid-week breaks or holidays because you do not have to be tied to any itinerary. Whether it is following a map, a sat nav or your heart, you can soon escape the stresses and strains of everyday life
A campervan gets you to places where you can explore on your own terms and in your own time, whether it be scenic locations, coastal resorts, towns or cities. There is no need to pay hotel bills, put up with noisy guests in strange surroundings or pay a fortune for food and drink and, best of all, if you do not like the view you can just drive your camper van away and find a better one.
Although we are known as a nation who love caravans, sitting at a table indoors eating a cooked meal, is a definite improvement on a wet tent and a gas camping stove as all fans of the camper van will tell you! Although the majority of us have been hit by the recession, we still like our comfort and owning a camper van means we can make it as homely as we like knowing it is not costing us a fortune.
Campervans should not be confused with motor homes. Motor homes are more concerned with lower costs, ease of movement and sometimes lack a division between the cab and living compartment. They may also lack built-in showers and showers. The clever person would buy a camper van which usually has a built-in kitchen with a fridge (powered by gas/electric/mains battery) and a 2 burner gas and hob.
By paying more for a camper van you can have the luxury of a water heater, air conditioning, a portable toilet and quite often an internal shower and, if you require, a satellite dish which all help make the camper van experience a real ‘home from home’. However, for those on a budget can make full use of awnings which help provide privacy when using portaloos or taking a shower outdoors.
People who buy camper vans have usually done a fair bit of research before committing themselves to buying and there is plenty of information around for those contemplating buying a camper van. A big factor of course is the price you pay for the type of camper van you require and this obviously depends on such factors as how large a camper van you need, whether you want a basic or more upmarket one and whether or not you will be going on long stay holidays or just using the camper van for weekends, festivals etc.
Whichever campervan you buy you will soon find yourself joining a new community of like-minded people who feel that life is too short to be mowing the lawn, doing housework, watching TV etc on days off. Life is for living and as soon as you are packed and ready to go in your camper van who knows what sights, experiences and possible adventures lie ahead?
